  1. What are refined sugars?

They come from plants and have a high concentration. It is the sugar we use at home. It is also a thick sugar which is incredibly sweet, pure calories and pure energy. The disadvantage is that it can make you fat very quickly.

Are there other kinds of sugars?

Yes, free sugars:   

  • Honey
  • Sirops
  • Fruit juices

What is the difference?

It doesn’t make any difference, it is all sugar.

Brown sugar has the same calories as white sugar, but honey has more calories.

None of these sugars are particularly good for you.

2. How does the brain react to sugar?

Your brain thinks it is nice and want some more of it. It will make the brain feel better. You also get cravings and you are going to repeat eating sugars, which will lead to a habit. (hard wired to enjoy it)

What does sugar do to your body?

Sugar will make you gain more fat.

3. How can you cook sweet foods without adding sugar?

To cook with naturel sugar, like in pineapple. It will give you the same effect, but without calories.

What is our opinion about this?

I think I will try this sometime, because I am very curious if it tastes the same and if it really is better.

4. How can you spot sugar in foods of which you thought were sugar free?

You can look on the package for the traffic light system or you can look at the back.

5. What are guilt-free sugars?

Those are products where there is no sugar at all.

6. What have you learnt? Shocking facts?

There is a lot more sugar in the daily food products and I learnt about the traffic light system.
